Energetic Self-Manifestation (ESM) Energetic Self-Manifestation (ESM) is the development and evolvement of a new treatment approach. It is a journey of self-love and, as such, bears testimony to the fact that "self-love and self-acceptance" are key to realizing our innate wholeness and to moving toward a more powerful view of who we are and how we relate to the world around us.In the development of this new treatment approach, we utilize the partnership of our backgrounds, abilities and interests to bridge the healing disciplines of Psychology, Energy and Spirituality. We, represents Ms. Diane Raphael, a gifted Psychological and Medical Intuitive and Psychic Medium and Dr. Gayle Way, a Registered Psychologist specializing in Clinical and Transpersonal Psychology. In collaboration, we seek to combine our gifts and knowledge to offer a unique healing process which is informed by Energy (the universal grid of cosmic consciousness) and the principles of a New Psychology which is grounded in the truths of Quantum Physics. We accomplish this by utilizing our respective abilities as Energy Beings and Energy Fields to interface with the larger Universal Energy Field in order to facilitate an individual's personal growth and self-empowerment. Such a psycho-energetic approach offers an accelerated and multirealitied approach to the healing experience which can be observed to manifest in profound instances of emotional, physical and personal evolvement. What is it? Energetic Self-Manifestation (ESM) represents a comprehensive, multidimensional energy psychotherapy. Practically, it represents a three-way interface which is a collaborative process involving the client, the facilitator and the Energy. It comprises a blend of "talk therapy", body awareness and the dialoguing of Energy Fields. It is important to note that The Energy has always existed. However, we are introducing a new and more powerful way of relating to the Energy which results in personal transformation through the manifestation of our innate wholeness. Such transformation is based on the fact that we are Beings of Energy. It is only when we embrace this truth that we truly begin to experience ourselves as multisensory and multirealitied Beings for whom the possibilities are endless. Such a focus is based upon the truth that we are not broken. There is nothing wrong with us and, thus, we do not need to be fixed or healed. It is about taking ownership for who we are and embracing our full potential with all that that might mean for us. The Energy supports us in doing this by working on a cellular basis to transmute our fear-based, maladaptive beliefs. In talking about the work, we strive to utilize language which will support a change in peoples' perceptions from one of "healing" to one of personal responsibility and personal evolvement. This is because Energetic Self-Manifestation represents a whole new philosophical approach to life involving how we see ourselves and why we're here. It relates to the interconnectedness of all things and thereby represents a shift in perception which is revolutionary in its ramifications and possibilities. As such, ESM represents the foundation of a newly emerging Psychology based on the multisensory reality that we are Energy Beings. Moreover, from the perspective of ESM we are all teachers and facilitators who, in learning to interface with the Energy, can provide support to one another, including ourselves, and, in particular, to those individuals who seek to grow and evolve. How Does it Work? The Energy is ever-readily available to us. In ESM we utilize this grid of cosmic consciousness (the Universal Energy Field) in a collaborative process. The Energy is in the driver's seat and we as Energy Beings, client and facilitator alike, intuitively follow its' direction. This is in contrast to many types of energy work in which the facilitator manipulates the energy in conjunction with various meridians and/or chakras. Energetic Self-Manifestation represents a highly client-centred treatment approach wherein the process is created by the client, the facilitator and the Energy, together. The client and facilitator's relationship with the Energy involves interfacing as Quantum Beings with a larger Quantum Energy field. This facilitates a "sharing" of energy/information which allows both the client and facilitator, simultaneously, to connect with universal wisdom and oneness. More specifically, the Energy supports us, as clients, in connecting to those parts of ourselves that we are desiring to connect with and which are coming up in us for validation and release. It supports us, as facilitators in knowing where to place our hands "in the sharing of the Energy" on the basis of vibrational and intuitive feedback. The Energy honours each client and facilitator's uniqueness - that strong individualistic urge which exists within each of us. This process allows more informational space for the Energy to support both the facilitator and the client in receiving what it is they each need to receive. In the earliest stages of this process, the Energy automatically creates a sense of safety for clients which enables them to access the painful and fearful parts of themselves which require attention. Similarly, it simultaneously allows the facilitator to relax into the knowledge and safety that this is a collaborative process in which they are to act as a support to the client's process and, thus, are not solely responsible for the outcome. This is not a process in which the facilitator comes from a place of hierarchical power and expertise, freeing them to truly facilitate as an observer and not as someone caught up in preventing fear-based mistakes. Regardless of the client's initial presentation, they are recognized as possessing all that they require within this process as well as within their ongoing life's journey. This process, therefore, allows us as facilitators to proceed with more confidence and ease, knowing that we are doing exactly what it is we need to be doing in each moment.Basically, as a client, when we open to an Internal Dialogue with the Energy, we are guided on a highly personal journey customized for our own exclusive needs. The Internal Dialogue may take many forms, including body sensations, feelings, memories, images, sounds and voices, and may range from a perceived sense of deep relaxation, calm and peace, to specific instructions. For example, one client received the very practical instructions to "throw out your tv", a suggestion which was highly relevant to her problems with procrastination and addictive behaviours such as excessive tv watching. Another client heard the message "Do not be afraid". In this way, we learn to focus inwardly to the relationship with ourselves for help with specific questions or life challenges thus, co-creating appropriate answers or direction. For example, during the course of a healing session, we may find our confusion regarding what to do in a difficult life situation lifted, or our fear dissolved while feelings which need to be expressed become more accessible. Thus, ESM is about teaching us a new way to empower, trust and see ourselves. This ultimately involves getting us in touch with our authentic selves and our innate wholeness. Eliminating many of the root causes of emotional imbalance serves to eliminate physical illness. The changes which have been observed are deep and lasting. In other words, a focus of ESM is to identify the root cause of a problem so that the problem or symptom can be eliminated, i.e. the focus of the work is not to "manage" our anxiety, but to eliminate it completely. As we open ourselves to the energy, our natural and innate abilities begin to manifest - i.e. self-love, self-awareness, intuition, psychic abilities and all the gifts they bring, begin to blossom forth. Thus, this is a journey of transformation. Transformational Opportunities One of the most exciting aspects of Energetic Self-Manifestation is its capacity to reprogram the subconscious mind. Dr. Bruce Lipton underscores the importance of the subconscious in his book, The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles. (2005), wherein he offers an informative and thought provoking discussion of human programming. He notes that from birth to age six, children tend to show a predominance of Delta and Theta brain waves in their brain activity. Hypnotherapists similarly drop their patients' brain activity into Delta and Theta because these low frequency brain waves put them into a more suggestible programmable state. According to Lipton, "this gives us an important clue as to how children, whose brains are mostly operating at these same frequencies can download the incredible volume of information they need to thrive in their environment (p. 163). During early development the child's consciousness has not evolved enough to critically assess messages coming to him/her from his/her environment. A child is like an uncritical sponge absorbing messages that are received from many different informational sources. Thus, unthinking parents, inadvertently, may pass on messages to their children, such as "you are a stupid child" or "you do not deserve things" which are downloaded into the subconscious memory as absolute facts. In this way, the fundamental behaviours, beliefs and attitudes we observe in our parents, become hard-wired as synaptic pathways in our subconscious minds (p. 164). As Lipton points out, once programmed into the subconscious mind, they control our biology for the rest of our lives unless we can figure out a way to reprogram them. In addition to early developmental experience or what we would term experientially acquired cellular memory, we submit that our beliefs and behaviours are also influenced by inherited cellular memory, i.e. cellular memory inherited from previous generations. This thesis is based on the reality that cells are energy and all forms of energy receive and transmit information. It is further strengthened by documented experiences wherein individuals visiting certain geographical areas will receive remarkably accurate information (often a reliving of sorts) of some event or experience which has occurred there in the past. This is all part of that universal grid of cosmic consciousness. These acquired and inherited memories play a large role in terms of the fear-based, maladaptive beliefs that we carry in the subconscious. Thus, acquired and inherited memories have rendered as challenging past attempts to change behaviour based upon maladaptive beliefs. Despite the gains made by traditional psychotherapy, its overall effectiveness has been limited by the knowledge we had available. Subconscious programming cannot be changed or cleared by therapy which too often focuses upon conscious issues which often are not related to the underlying maladaptive beliefs. Nor can conditioning in the cells be changed by talk therapy, alone. The efficacy of cognitive-behaviour therapy, considered one of the few empirically validated treatments of mood disorders, lies in the identification of underlying maladaptive beliefs. Essentially the thought processes related to such beliefs are manipulated and managed. Unfortunately, all too often, there remain limitations to the level of change enacted because Cognitive Behaviour Therapy can only be applied to the conscious mind. In contrast, one of the features of ESM, that contributes to its role as a highly effective instrument of change, lies in the ability of the Energy to clear out of cellular memory (both inherited and acquired) old conditioning or programming comprised of maladaptive beliefs which reside in the subconscious mind. This power to clear away old programming, which creates the opportunity to program and replace it with more adaptive, life enhancing beliefs, renders this form of treatment a much more powerful agent of cognitive and behavioural change.
In our experience, ESM represents a highly fluid and dynamic process which is powerful and yet, simplistic, in its approach to growth. Our awareness of the Energy available to us is changing along with our relationship to it and ourselves. We might conceptualize this relationship as constantly evolving as it were from a stage of horse and buggy up through the Model T and first Ford to the emerging stage of a concord jet. In this way, we view ESM as representing aspects of the New Energy paradigm, while other subtle energy healing methods which focus upon meridians and chakras are considered to be related to the Old Energy paradigm. The simplicity of the approach is meant to give everyone access to an effective form of growth and transformation, not only formally trained Energy Practitioners and Clinicians. Thus, a major thrust of ESM is in the universal access to realizing our wholeness which it affords. In teaching us how to manifest our wholeness, ESM is seen to teach us how to fish! In this way, ESM is a tool for universal connectedness and wholeness. It represents the clearest truth of who we are up to this point and, thus, represents the most effective self-help process we have available. The nature and application of psycho-spiritual principles utilized in the practice of ESM is reflected in the writings of such popular and. well-known authors as Deepak Chopra MD, Wayne Dyer Ph. D, Caroline Myss Ph. D., Rupert Sheldrake Ph. D, Marianne Williamson and Gary Zukav while the potential efficacy of ESM draws scientific support from the fields of epigenetics and quantum physics. The recent book by Bruce Lipton Ph. D. entitled The Biology of Belief (2005) offers a highly readable analysis of "the new biology"- which, in serving to revolutionize scientists' understanding of the role of energy in the building blocks of life and matter, provides strong theoretical support for our clinical findings. What Are Our Findings? While Energetic Self-Manifestation (ESM) has yet to undergo rigorous empirical testing, clinical observation and client self-report on a case by case basis reveal consistently positive outcomes in the treatment of a wide range of emotional and psychological problems including anxiety, depression, abuse and trauma. In describing their experiences with the Energy, clients report feeling lighter, less burdened. Many report feeling a sense of becoming "more integrated" and of living their lives, challenges and all, with more ease. It is not unusual for clients to experience a sense of "euphoria" following a session wherein they describe feeling "high" as if on drugs. In the treatment of anxiety, symptoms have been found to be greatly reduced or completely eliminated. Individuals suffering from frequent panic attacks and the anticipatory anxiety which accompany them, stop having such attacks, while many individuals with extensive histories of chronic anxiety eventually report a complete absence of anxiety symptoms. Trauma survivors often describe themselves as feeling "cocooned" by the Energy during the reliving of the traumatic event. Thus, the need for special resource development or installation which accompanies other treatments, such as EMDR, appears to represent a much lesser concern in the use of this therapeutic modality. Moreover, following the re-experiencing of even highly traumatic material, clients have been observed to leave therapy sessions stabilized and well-grounded without the need for additional intervention. This outcome has been so consistent that we feel safe in offering the promise of such stability and solidity to fearful clients as an encouragement for revisiting and processing a terrifying experience. While it has yet to receive more formal empirical validation, to date we are greatly heartened by the efficacy which ESM demonstrates in the amelioration of deep-seated trauma symptoms. This extends to psychological conditions, such as Dissociative Identity Disorder, which arise out of severe traumatic experiences. We are similarly excited by the promising results we have been receiving in the use of ESM in the treatment of addictions, obsessions and compulsions. Given the widespread role of addictive process in a myriad of psychological problems, including drug and alcohol addictions, sexual addiction and disordered eating as well as the complexity of the etiology of many addictions, we have begun to focus more intently on the treatment of addiction with ESM in an attempt to formulate effective treatment protocols. Treatment formulation is predicated on the fact that we are all Energy Beings. Thus, to one degree or another we all have the ability to read energy and to channel it. In a sense we are all transmitters, receivers and conduits! From this perspective, addictions start when we block off a release of energy in some form. For example, we experience fear, perhaps a fear of embarrassment, which is enough to stop our expression of an authentic moment of truth. Thus, rather than express this truth, which is a form of energetic release, we choose "to eat it" or silence ourselves. The more we sacrifice the energetic expression of who we are or what we feel through this "shutting down" of ourselves, the stronger the acting out of the addiction becomes. This is because a core issue in the tenacious root of addiction is the fear of pain. In fact, "I'm afraid of the pain, I'm afraid of the pain" might be considered the addict's key refrain. The addiction becomes manifest to serve the purpose of avoiding the pain, whether emotional or physical - the anticipated pain of how challenging it is going to be and/or how miserable they are going to feel while getting better. It is this purpose - the avoidance of pain - which feeds the addiction's tenacity. It is our contention that the most effective way to deal with this resistance to pain is through the Energy because, basically, to do otherwise is like trying to perform surgery without the proper tools. It is an energetic issue or problem. As previously noted, when someone does not allow themselves to speak their truth (i.e. express their feelings) or ask for what they need, it represents an energetic cut-off which needs to be treated energetically. If we know we are Energy Beings and yet we are living like we are blocks of wood, we are not seeing or respecting ourselves as the Energetic Beings we are. However, when we start looking at ourselves as Energy then an Energy-based process becomes the most reasonable way to go. Based upon the converging findings of Science and Metaphysics, it is time for us to accept the reality that we are Energy Beings and, in doing so, to acknowledge the fact that Energy is a part of our process. How can it not, therefore, be a part of our transformation?! Findings concerning the dramatic effects of the Energy as a mood stabilizer extend to our canine friends. In fact, one of our earliest and most dramatic experiences with the Energy's ability to alter mood involved a then six year old Welsh terrier named Daisy. Now Daisy, characterologically, is an Alpha, with a capital A. She is known as "a princess with attitude and insufficient gratitude" who has been diagnosed informally as having "hardwiring" problems. When her will is thwarted she has been known to respond with a combination of growling, barking, spitting, hissing and snapping. She is nasty, albeit not dangerous! When the Energy was initially trained upon her during one such hissy fit, it was amazing to watch Daisy, who took great umbrage at the hands directed over her, attempt to escape the Energy's effects by running away, only to seemingly remain glued to the spot, continuing to helplessly growl and spit and snap. However, over the course of approximately five minutes, she would end up first sitting, then lying down and eventually putting her head down on her paws and falling fast asleep. Over time, Daisy's initial resistance to the Energy or "the taking in of Love" has disappeared and when hands directing the Energy are trained upon her now, her growling ceases immediately, turning to a soft, contented sighing as she lies down and gently goes to sleep. What is Required of You? The only requirement with Energetic Self-Manifestation (ESM) is "to show up" with openness and intent. The lived reality is that "while the effects of the Energy are subtle, the changes can be profound". Everyone possesses the opportunity to consciously interface with the Energy. It is a choice expressed through one's Intent and represents a gift that is realized through the embracing of one's personal evolvement which is a journey of self-love.. However, there is no room for ego and its manipulative quality within ESM. This is because ESM, as a journey of self-love, diminishes the illusion that "we are not enough". As mentioned previously, the Energy is in the driver's seat and it is the therapist's role to facilitate the client - Energy dialogue without "getting in the way". As you might imagine, this can represent a tall order for those of us steeped in degrees who are used to being in the driver's seat and to being looked upon as experts. As Co-founders and Pioneers in the practice of Energetic Self-Manifestation (ESM), we would like to extend an invitation to any of you who might wish to join us on this exciting journey of discovery and transformation. We believe that such an invitation will be well-received by those of you who, like Gayle, entered the profession of psychology to help others - even to heal, but too often found her knowledge and the psychological techniques and tools available to her woefully lacking. Perhaps you, too, found that such limitations to your clinical practice persisted despite many years of academic and professional preparation as well as many additional years of continuing education. In Gayle's case, it was a long journey before she found a therapeutic approach that she considered to be personally, as well as professionally, transformative in its capacity to change lives. We would be especially pleased if, amongst your number, there are some scientist practitioners who would wish to carry out research on the efficacy of ESM. To this end, we welcome scientific skepticism in conjunction with an openness if, as we believe, it will lead to empirical validation of the findings we have described!
